A secret operation ( English Black operation, black op ) is a covert or covert operation carried out by a government , state civil or military organization , which often includes activities that constitute a high level of secrecy , are outside the standard military protocol, and even are illegal.
M. Bowman divides operations into hidden operations ( covert ), in which it is impossible to hide the fact of the operation, and therefore measures should be taken to deny responsibility for the act (" plausible denial "), and secret operations ( eng. Clandestine ) in which priority is given to the fact that the covert operation was carried out is invisible.
Secret, military or paramilitary operations can be used by different services to achieve or attempt to achieve unusually sensitive goals. The methods used in covert operations also consist in an unconventional manner of warfare. Covert operations may include activities such as killing , sabotage , extortion , spying on allies or their own citizens, kidnapping people who support the resistance movement, torture , using fraud to obtain funds, using child soldiers , drug trafficking, smuggling and much more.
