Vyacheslav Alekseevich Karpinsky (January 16, 1880, Penza - March 20, 1965, Moscow ) is a prominent participant in the Marxist revolutionary movement in the Russian Empire. Publicist, editor and editorial board of many periodicals. Doctor of Economics, Hero of Socialist Labor (1962).

Biography
Born in the family of an official. Father - Alexey Petrovich (1845-1920), mother - Evgenia Pavlovna (nee Brusnitsyna).
In 1888-1899 he studied at the 2nd Penza male gymnasium [1] . The future director Vsevolod Meyerhold and film actor Ivan Mozhuzhin also studied at this gymnasium (the historical building of the 2nd Penza men's gymnasium in Penza on Volodarsky Street , 5 has survived to this day and is a historical and cultural monument of federal significance; currently it is located Penza Education Department).
In 1896 he organized a Marxist circle in Penza and conducted propaganda work in the city and county.
In 1899 he entered the medical faculty of Kharkov University , was expelled for participation in the revolutionary movement. Member of the RSDLP since 1898. One of the organizers of the " Union for the Emancipation of the Working Class " in Kharkov .
In 1902 he was sent to Vologda , in 1904 he fled from exile and emigrated. In Geneva, under the leadership of V. I. Lenin, he worked for the Forward and Proletarian newspapers ; collaborated in Pravda .
During the First World War of 1914-1918 he organized the publication of the Social Democrat newspaper . He performed the tasks of V.I. Lenin, who wrote to Karpinsky more than 100 letters. After returning to Russia in 1917, he worked in the newspaper Derevenskaya Pravda, and headed the propaganda and instructor department of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee . During the Civil War of 1918-1920, on the propaganda steamer "Red Star", he edited the newspaper "Red Star". From 1918 to 1922 - editor of the newspaper "Poor" (intermittently).
In 1918-1927 he was a member of the editorial board of the newspaper "Pravda", a member of the editorial board of several newspapers and magazines. In 1936-1937 he worked in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks . Since 1937 he was engaged in scientific and literary work. He was elected a delegate to the 8th , 16th and 22nd congresses of the Communist Party. He was elected a member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee from the 1st to the 7th convocation.
V. A. Karpinsky wrote a number of books, brochures and articles about V. I. Lenin, the history of the Communist Party and the Soviet state.
He was awarded three orders of Lenin. On May 4, 1962, for many years of dedicated work and great achievements in organizing and developing the party and Soviet press, he was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor.
He died on March 20, 1965 in Moscow, was buried in the Novodevichy cemetery.

- Brother - Alexander A. Karpinsky (1884-1937, repressed and executed), rehabilitated in 1989 [2] .
- First wife (1911-1917) - Sarah Naumovna Ravich ; together with her, he directed the library named after G. A. Kuklin in Geneva [3] .
- The second wife - Karpinskaya (nee Brook) Berta Semyonovna (01/16/1895, Orsha - 11/18/1940). Her brother is Veniamin Semenovich Brook (1882-1938, executed), deputy USSR Prosecutor for Rail Transport, then head of the sales department of the Theaterpromsnabsbyt of the Committee for Arts under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR.
- Son L.V. Karpinsky (11/26/1929 - 06/12/1995).
- The third wife is Karpinskaya (Brook as a girl) Irina Semenovna (03/09/1905, Orsha - 08/01/2005), the sister of the first wife. She had two children from her first marriage - Felix and Svetlana. Svetlana V.A. Karpinsky adopted.
