Sven Eric Nater ( born Swen Eric Nater ; born January 14, 1950 , Den Helder , North Holland , Netherlands ) is an American professional basketball player . Two-time champion of the National Association of University Sports (NCAA) as part of the UKLA Bruins team (1972-1973).

Player Career
He played in the center position. He studied at the College of Cypress and the University of California at Los Angeles , in 1973 he was selected by the NBA draft under number 16 by the Milwaukee Bucks team, but he began to play for it only from the 1976/1977 season . He later played for the Kansas City Kings , Denver Nuggets and San Diego Clippers . In 1980, became the leader of the regular NBA rebound championship . Twice, Nater became the champion of the National University Sports Association (NCAA) (1972-1973). In total, the NBA spent 8 seasons. In total, during his career in the NBA he played 489 games in which he scored 5943 points (an average of 12.2 per game), made 5297 rebounds , 954 assists , 258 interceptions and 226 block shots .
Nater spent the first three seasons of his professional career in the ABA , playing for the Virginia Squires , San Antonio Spurs and New York Nets . In total, during his career in the ABA, he played 233 games in which he scored 3037 points (an average of 13.0 per game), made 3043 rebounds, 281 assists, 106 interceptions and 201 block shots. He took part in the ABA All-Star Game twice (1974-1975). He was recognized as a rookie of the year ABA (1974). He was included in the 1st ABA rookie team (1974). He was twice included in the 2nd team of all ABA stars (1974-1975).
