Player Career
He played the centering position. He studied at the University of San Francisco , in 1979 was selected for the NBA Draft under the 3rd number by the New York Knicks team. Later, he played for the teams " Chicago Bulls " and " Seattle Supersonics ." In total, the NBA spent 15 seasons. In the 1990/1991 , 1991/1992 and 1992/1993 seasons, Cartwright became the NBA champion in Chicago. In 1975 he became the best basketball player among high school students . Once participated in the NBA All-Star Game ( 1980 ). He joined the 1st NBA novice team ( 1980 ). Twice he joined the 2nd NCAA National Team ( 1977 , 1979 ). Three years in a row he was recognized as the basketball player of the year among students of the West Coast conference (1977–1979). In total for the career in the NBA played 963 games, in which he scored 12,713 points (an average of 13.2 per game), made 6,106 rebounds , 1,390 assists , 460 interceptions and 668 block shots .
Career Coach
After completing his professional career, Cartwright worked in his home team (Chicago Bulls) (1996-1998) as an assistant to Phil Jackson , under whose leadership he, as a player, won three consecutive league titles . In this position, he became the NBA champion in the 1996/1997 and 1997/1998 seasons for two years in a row. In 2001-2003, he worked as the head coach of the Bulls, but did not have much success. Currently working in Japan as the head coach of the Osaka Ewessa team.
