Gaidalov, Timur Khadalavovich

Timur Khadalavovich Gaydalov ( November 7, 1976 , Buinaksk ) - a Russian boxer of the first middle weight category, successfully played for the national team in the late 1990s - early 2000s. Champion of Europe, silver medalist of the World Cup, three-time champion of Russia, Honored Master of Sports. He is currently a businessman, engaged in social activities, and heads the Moscow Boxing Federation of Students.

Biography

Timur Gaydalov was born on November 7, 1976 in Buinaksk , Dagestan . In childhood, he studied in the freestyle wrestling section, but ultimately made a choice in favor of boxing. At first he trained under the guidance of a children's coach Rashidbek Akhmedov, later he was a ward of the honored coach Zuber Jafarov [1] .

In 1991, he already won the Russian championship among youths in Pyatigorsk. Later he won several victories at the “Youth of Russia” tournaments, was the best at the zonal youth championship of the country, held in the city of Goryachiy Klyuch. He achieved his first serious success in the ring in 1997, winning a silver medal at the Russian Championship - in the decisive match he lost to Olympic champion Oleg Saitov . A year later, he became the champion, having defeated all his rivals in competitions in Belgorod.

Having beaten out as the national team leader in the category up to 67 kg, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1999 World Championships in Houston. He reached the finals with the most difficult fights and defeated the titled Cuban Juan Hernandez Sierra in a decisive 5-3 match, but the Cuban delegation filed a protest, the decision of the judges was canceled, and Gaidalov was left without a gold medal. In 2001, he won the Russian championship again, went to the world championship in Belfast, but here he performed much worse than the previous time, having managed to get through the quarter-finals stage. One of the most successful in Gaydalov’s career was 2002, he became the champion of Russia for the third time and took first place at the European Championship in Perm.

Then in his career there was a certain decline caused by numerous worsened injuries. In 2006, after losing the Russian Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk, Timur Gaydalov was forced to leave the national team. Having completed his sports career, he took up business; in addition, he holds the position of President of the Moscow Boxing Federation of Students [2] . He graduated from the Dagestan State Pedagogical University , where he studied at the Faculty of Physical Culture. Since 2014, he has been holding the position of Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Sport, Tourism and Youth Affairs of the Administration of the city of Makhachkala. Married, has three children [3] .
