Biography
Born into a family of Theodosian landowners, hereditary honorary citizen Ivan Petrovich and Elizaveta Afanasyevna Verebryusov. He studied at the Feodosia district school. After graduating from Kharkov University, he served in the office of the Novorossiysk Governor General in Odessa. Then, from 1842 to 1856, he worked as a senior teacher of Russian literature at the Yekaterinoslav provincial gymnasium, and from 1856 to 1865 as an inspector of the gymnasium in Taganrog. For some time he taught at the Feodosiya Gymnasium and at the same time worked on a voluntary basis at the Feodosiya Museum of Antiquities . In 1869-1878 he was the head of the Feodosia Museum and was engaged in its description.
At the request of S.I. Verebryusov, he was transferred to the Kerch Museum of Antiquities and soon began archaeological excavations. At the same time he was in charge of the museum of the Melek-Chesmensky kurgan . Collaborated with archaeologists VG Tizengauzen and N.P. Kondakov . Grandson S. A. Verebryusov was a polar pilot.
