Yaungulben parish

Jaungulben parish ( Latvian. Jaungulbenes pagasts ) is one of the fourteen territorial units of the Gulben region of Latvia . It is located in the area of ​​the Gulbensky rampart of the Aluksne Upland and partly on the Azele Uplift of the East Latvian Lowland in the north-east of the country.

It borders on the Tirz , Galgausk , Daukst and Lig volosts of its region, as well as the Dzelzav volost of the Madon region .

Geography

The rivers flow through the territory of the volost: Asarup, Lieda, Olena, Viyata.

Large reservoirs: lakes Ushuru and Siladzirnavu esers.

Highest point: 152.8 m

National composition: 92% - Latvians, 5% - Russians.

The parish is crossed by the Gulbene - Pляavinias road and the Pляavinas - Gulbene railway line ( Jaungulbene railway station).

Population

The largest settlements of the Jaungulben parish: Gulbitis (volost center), Jaungulbene , Abrava, Adulien, Agrumi, Kaipi, Pauri, Siladzirnavas.

According to the 2011 census of Latvia, out of 1179 inhabitants of the Jaungulben parish, Latvians made up 93.72% (1105 people), Russians - 4.24% (50 people), Belarusians - 0.68% (8 people), Poles - 0.59% (7 people) [3] .

History

On the territory of the present Yaungulben volost there were previously the Yaungulben estate and 2 semi-estates - Gulbish and Siladzirnavnieki. In 1864, the choral collective of the Jaungulben parish took part in the First Latvian Song Festival. In the XIX century, a match factory and 4 mills worked.

In 1935, the territory of the Jaungulben parish was 252 km², 4672 people lived in it.

After World War II , 3 collective farms were organized, which later merged into the Yaungulbene collective farm, which ceased to exist in 1994.

In 1945, Daukst, Jaungulben, Lig and Siltai village councils were formed in the Jaungulben parish of Madon County . In 1949, the volost division was abolished and the Yaungulbensky village council of the Gulbensky district was part of the Cesvain (1949-1956) and Gulbensky (after 1956) districts. In 1956, the liquidated Adulien Village Council was annexed to the Jaungulben Village Council [4] .

In 1990, the Yaungulben village council was reorganized into a volost. In 2009, at the end of the Latvian administrative-territorial reform, the Jaungulben parish became part of the Gulben region.

Today in the volost there are 7 economically active enterprises, Gulbish secondary school, Yaungulbensky vocational school, library, House of Culture, doctor, pharmacy, social recreation center, 2 post offices, forestry [5] .
