The Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Cuba is the diplomatic representative of the Holy See in Cuba . This diplomatic post is held by the church-diplomatic representative of the Vatican as an ambassador . As a rule, in Cuba the apostolic nuncio is a dual of the diplomatic corps , since Cuba is a Catholic country. The Apostolic Nunciature in Cuba was established on a permanent basis at the end of the 19th century . Its headquarters is in Havana .
Currently, the Apostolic Nuncio in Cuba is the archbishop appointed by Pope Francis .

History
The apostolic delegate of Cuba and Puerto Rico was established in 1898 .
On December 7, 1925, the Antilles apostolic delegate was established by decree Ea est Antillarum insularum , with jurisdiction over all the islands in the West Indies and with a residence in Havana . She replaced the former apostolic delegate of Cuba and Puerto Rico.
September 2, 1935 , with the Reipublicae Cubanae log of Pope Pius XI , the apostolic nunciature of Cuba was created.
On August 10, 1938 , in accordance with the decree of the Decreto Antillarum of the Holy Congregation for Extraordinary Church Affairs , the apostolic delegate of Antilles was abolished and at the same time Jamaica and British Honduras were not assigned to apostolic nunciature in Cuba until they received diplomatic autonomy (respectively, in 1979 and 1983 ).
