The story was first published in English in Forum magazine in February 1889 under the title “In 2889” and authored by Jules Verne .
This work by Jules Verne planned to be included in the collection “ Memories of childhood and youth ” he had planned in 1890 under the title “One Day of Journalist”, but the collection was never published.
The somewhat corrected story was read by the author at the Amiens Academy on January 18, 1891.
Publication in French was held in the Journal d'Amiens, Moniteur de la Somme on January 21, 1891. A few months later, the story was also published in the small edition of the " Amiensk Academy Notes ". Here he was already named “One day of an American journalist in the year 2890”.
For the posthumous collection of his father's “ Yesterday and Tomorrow, ” Michel Verne reworked the text, giving him a longer headline “In the XXIX century. One day of an American journalist in the year 2889. ”
