It is part of the Susolovsky rural settlement [1] , in terms of administrative-territorial division - in the Susolovsky village council.
The distance by road to the regional center of Veliky Ustyug is 54 km, to the center of the municipality of Susolovka - 6 km. There is a shuttle bus to Susolovka [2] . The nearest town is Chemical Plant .
According to the 2002 census, the population is 464 people (218 men, 246 women). The predominant nationality is Russian (98%) [3] .
The village was built in the 1950s on 8 km of the Susolov narrow gauge railway . In the 1980s, almost all logging workers of the timber industry enterprise lived in the village of Severny. In 2003, the management of the Susolovsky timber industry enterprise (LLC Susolovsky Forest) decided to completely switch to forest transportation by car. The narrow gauge railway, it was decided to completely disassemble [2] .
