Biography

Kirill Kamynin was born in the village of Bolshaya Polyana (now located in the Terbunsky district of the Lipetsk region ) into a peasant family. By nationality - Russian. After graduating from elementary school, he worked as a mining foreman at mine No. 9 named after V.I. Lenin in the Voroshilovgrad region .

Member of World War II . In October 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army by the Sverdlovsk district military enlistment office of the Sverdlovsk district of the Voroshilovgrad region of the Ukrainian SSR . He participated in battles since July 1942, as the commander of the rifle division of the 29th Guards Rifle Regiment (12th Guards Rifle Division, 61st Army, Central Front).

On September 28, 1943 , the guard sergeant Kirill Kamynin, with his squad, was among the first to cross the Dnieper near the village of Glushets ( Loevsky District , Gomel Region , BSSR ), captured and held the line, providing forcing the river with other units. In the battles to maintain and expand the bridgehead, skillfully commanding the squad, he repelled several enemy counterattacks, for which he was presented to the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union [2] .

On January 15, 1944, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for exemplary performance of combat missions of command on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown to Sergeant Kirill Leontyevich Kamynin, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " [3] .

But Kirill Kamynin personally did not receive this high award. January 14, 1944 , participating in the Kalinkovichi-Mozyr offensive operation , he, as part of the 12th Guards Rifle Division, went to the banks of the Ptich River north of the city of Kalinkovichi in the Oktyabrsky District (now Svetlogorsk District of the Gomel Region of Belarus). On January 16, when trying to force the Ptich River, Kamynin died. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Koreni, Svetlogorsk district, Gomel region [4] [5] .
