Biography
Severin Antonovich Klosovsky was born in the village of Nagorna in Poland. He trained as a medical assistant. In December 1886 he left Poland. Settled in London between 1887 and 1888 [1] .
In London, he got many mistresses, some of whom he passed off as his wives. He changed his name to George, and the name Chapman took from one of his mistresses. He killed three of them - Mary Spink, Elizabeth Taylor and Maud Marsh. He did this with the help of a special medicine, in which he added emetic. The motive for the killings has not yet been determined. The first two killings went unnoticed, but the death of Mod Marsh aroused doubts among the police. An autopsy revealed that she was poisoned. An autopsy was soon held by Mary Spink and Elizabeth Taylor. Chapman was arrested; however, in court he was accused only of the murder of Mod Marsh. March 20, 1903 Chapman was sentenced to hang. On April 7, 1903, he was hanged at Wandsworth Prison [1] .
Even when Chapman was arrested, detectives suspected that he was the famous Jack the Ripper . Similar information appeared in their newspaper interviews. Nevertheless, no convincing arguments in favor of this version were presented [1] .
