Biography
Born in a Karelian peasant family. She graduated from a seven-year school in the village of Padany .
After graduating from the Karelian branch of the Leningrad Art Studio in 1932, she worked at the State Finnish Drama Theater in Petrozavodsk .
She played more than a hundred roles on the stage, including the Commissioner (V. Vishnevskyβs Optimistic Tragedy , 1935), Yarovaya Lyubov (K. Treneva, Yarovaya Lyubov, 1935), Aynikki (A. Kivi, Kullervo, 1935), and Anita ( βThe Son of a Fishermanβ by V. Lacis, 1954), Mamina Liisa (βIndian Summerβ by M. Lassila, 1963), Ponsia (βThe House of Bernarda Alba β by F. G. Lorca, 1969). One of the most significant works was the role of Manny in the play "Wild Captain" based on the play by Yu. Smuul (1967).
She was invited to episodic roles in films (the films "Sampo" and "Cold Summer of the Fifty-third ..." ).
Karpova D.K. was elected the first chairman of the board of the Karelian branch of the All-Russian Theater Society . She was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 3-4 convocations , a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Karelian-Finnish SSR . Honorary Citizen of Petrozavodsk (1994).
She was buried at the Sulazhgorsky memorial cemetery of Petrozavodsk.
