Batman: Gates of Gotham ("Batman: The Gates of Gotham") is a five-part comic book published by DC Comics , which includes many characters from the Batman franchise. The comic was created by screenwriters Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins, as well as artist Trevor McCarthy. The first issue was published on May 18, 2011.

DC announced this series a month before its release, showing some sketches and concept art [1] .
Story
The plot revolves around an ancient mystery associated with the founding fathers of Gotham City , which will appear only in our days. According to the scriptwriters, the comic will reveal the history of the city, its appearance, the history of some influential families, as well as the first supervillain [2] . Batman collects a team of detectives to investigate a crime that occurred at the turn of the century, which will include Red Robin (Tim Drake) , Batgirl (Cassandra Kane) and Robin (Damien Wayne) [3] .
The series will be used as a starting point for several high-profile stories about Batman, and will also be associated with other series, such as The Return of Bruce Wayne Grant Morrison [4] , Owl Night Scott Snyder [5] .
Criticism
IGN rated the first issue of the comic strip "Batman: Gates of Gotham" at 8.5 out of 10, calling it fascinating and continuing the tradition of Grant Morrison ; the work of a colorist who created a cold and disturbing atmosphere was also noted [6] . The second issue - 9 points out of 10 [7] . The fourth number was rated 7 out of 10 [8] . The fifth number was rated at 8 points out of 10 [9] .
