- Decision of the Council of the Shpakovsky municipal district of the Stavropol Territory of April 24, 2009 No. 123 [1]

Justification of Symbols

The coat of arms of the Shpakovsky municipal district is a " vowel " ("speaking"), since it directly indicates the historical name of the district - Mikhailovsky. The principle of “publicity” is associated with one of the classical ways of creating the coat of arms - the adoption of an image that resonates with the name or name of the owner of the coat of arms [1] .

The coat of arms depicts the Holy Archangel Michael - the leader of the heavenly army , the heavenly patron. The silver fork-shaped cross symbolizes the historical, natural and geographical uniqueness of the municipal district [1] .

The tincture of the shield field and figures also reflect the substantial idea of the coat of arms. Gold (yellow color) is a symbol of the highest value, greatness, wealth, abundance, harvest. Azure (blue, blue) symbolizes lofty aspirations, rebirth, nobility, sincerity, wisdom, spirituality, and in Orthodoxy - the Mother of God color. Silver (white color) personifies perfection, chastity, openness, mutual understanding. Red ink means power, courage, life-affirming power, generosity, love and beauty. Purple (purple color) is a sign of the highest dignity, strength, power, piety [1] .

History

To work on creating the official symbols of the Shpakovsky municipal district, a special working group was organized, headed by the deputy head of the district, E. Kostina. The preparation of the emblem and flag of the district was carried out in accordance with the task - “to reflect in official symbols at least one feature of the municipality: a historical fact, a unique natural, geographical, ethnographic or any other attraction” [3] .

Based on the concept of the so-called “vowel” coat of arms proposed by the participants of the working group, the symbolism of the region was developed. The coats of arms of the municipality and the flag based on it were the heraldist artist S. Mayorov and the secretary of the heraldic commission under the governor of the Stavropol Territory [4] , the director of the Stavropol State Historical, Cultural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve N. Okhonko [3] .

The content of the coat of arms project reflected the main historical and physical-geographical features of the municipality. The figure of Archangel Michael, placed in the center of the coat of arms, reminded that the administrative center of Shpakovsky district is the city of Mikhailovsk , founded in 1784 by the first settlers who arrived from the central part of Russia, and got its name in honor of the “leader of the heavenly army” . Another emblematic figure - a fork-shaped cross - indicated the natural and geographical uniqueness of the region, which "is located in the very center of the Ciscaucasia and is a watershed between the basins of the Caspian and Black Sea" [3] [5] .

On April 24, 2009, the coat of arms and flag of the Shpakovsky municipal district were approved by the deputies of the district council. In 2010, after passing an examination at the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation , the official symbols of the municipality were entered in the State Heraldry Register (coat of arms under number 6585 [2] , flag under number 6586 [6] ) [3] .

Usage

In July 2016, on the initiative of the head of the district, V. Rostegaev, a competition was announced for the best stele project, dedicated to the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the founding of the municipality [7] . According to the organizers, this architectural object should be “a symbol of the Shpakovsky district, combine its past, present and future, show the strength and unity of its inhabitants” [8] . The project of E. Gorbovsky was recognized as the best competitive work. The art object developed according to her sketch was installed in September 2016 at the entrance to the district from the city of Nevinnomyssk . The stele is made in the form of two symbolic hearts: on one of them is a map of the Shpakovsky district, and on the other - the coat of arms of the district and the official symbols of 12 settlements included in its composition [9] .
