This emblem was approved on November 27, 2008 by a decision of the Council of the Stepnovsky municipal district of the Stavropol Territory No. 8/69-II [1] and entered into the State Heraldry Register of the Russian Federation with assignment of registration number 4560 [2] .

Description
The heraldic description of the coat of arms of the Stepnovsky municipal district of the Stavropol Territory reads:
In the scarlet field, between the upper right corner, slanted by gold, and the lower left, slanted silver, there is a ring of seven five-rayed stars , placed one ray apart.

The coat of arms of the Stepnovsky municipal district, in accordance with the Methodological Recommendations for the development and use of official symbols of municipalities (section 2, chapter VIII, paragraphs 45–46 [3] ), approved by the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation on June 28, 2006, can be reproduced with the status crown of the established sample (gold, with five pointed teeth [4] ) [1] .
Justification of Symbols
The coat of arms in the language of symbols and allegories reflects the features of the Stepnovsky municipal district [1] .
The red field, in which seven golden stars are united in a circle, allegorically symbolizes the region itself and its seven municipal formations in rural settlements. Each municipality of a rural settlement is represented by a separate star, and at the same time they are all united in a common circle - into a single municipality of the Stepnovsky municipal district [1] .
Red color (scarlet) is a symbol of labor, strength, courage, beauty and celebration. The gold and silver slopes in the coat of arms figuratively reflect the basis of the regional economy - agricultural production. Gold is a symbol of harvest, golden fields, stability, respect and intelligence. Silver is a symbol of purity, perfection, peace and mutual understanding [1] .
History
The work to establish the official symbols of the Stepnovsky municipal district was organized by the district Council, which announced a competition for the best design of the coat of arms and flag of the region. The competition was attended by school students, pupils of the center of extracurricular activities, as well as everyone [5] .
The development of regional symbols was carried out with the assistance of the Union of Heraldists of Russia , with which projects were discussed and agreed. As a result, approval was made by the sketch of the coat of arms, executed by a resident of the village of Stepnoye , artist Nikolai Nikolaevich Sotnikov. The author of the coat of arms idea was made by the Chairman of the Council of the Stepnovsky Municipal District Alexander Nikolayevich Litvinenko, heraldic refinement was carried out by the Executive Director of the Union of Heraldists of Russia Konstantin Fedorovich Mochenov, and the justification of the symbolism was made by another member of the Union of Heraldists - Kirill Viktorovich Perehodenko [5] [6] [7] .
On November 27, 2008, this emblem was officially approved at the extraordinary eighth meeting of the Council of the Stepnovsky Municipal District of the second convocation and sent to the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation for heraldic examination. After its successful passage, the coat of arms of the Stepnovsky municipal district of the Stavropol Territory was entered in the State Heraldry Register of the Russian Federation under the number 4560 [1] [2] [5] .
On June 25, 2010, in the administrative center of the district - the village of Stepnoy - a ceremony was held to open memorial plaques testifying to the state registration of the official symbols of the Stepnovsky municipal district - the coat of arms and flag. The boards were placed on the back of the stele, erected in honor of the formation of the area in 1972. The initiator of their installation was the deputy of the district council Sergey Vasilyevich Panchenko. The images of the district’s symbols placed beneath them were made by Aleksey Pavlovich Velichko, choirmaster of the Stepnovsky District House of Culture [5] .
