In 1884 - 1888 Paul Höcker lived and worked in Berlin, then returned to Munich and in 1891 became a professor at the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, introducing field trips with students to the open air for the first time ; In addition, Höcker introduced his students to the work of the Barbizonians , Impressionists and other innovative artists of their time. In 1897 , Höcker was forced to leave the Academy as a result of a scandal and spent several years on the island of Capri in a small Franco-German colony that took shape around the writer Jacques d'Adelsverd-Fersen ; The model of most of Höcker's paintings from this period was Adelsverd-Fersen's lover Nino Cesarini .
