Justification of Symbols
The coat of arms of the Novoaleksandrovsky municipal district is a “ vowel ” (“speaking”), since the scarlet color of its shield corresponds with the image of the legendary commander Alexander the Great [1] .
The gold pillar and two sheaves in the shield field are intended to remind us of the leading position for grain production in the Stavropol Territory held by the Novoaleksandrovsky District and that until 1944 the district was part of the Krasnodar Territory , which is considered the “breadbasket of Russia” . The number of heads of wheat ears (6 + 6) is associated with 12 municipalities (settlements) in the district and, at the same time, “with 12 disciples of Christ , whose faith is the foundation of Cossack spirituality” [1] .
The Cossack saber, placed on top of the pillar, points to the "legendary Cossack past of the region" and the exploits that glorified the New Alexander Cossacks standing on the Kuban border line , and also represents the revival of the Cossacks. In addition, the image of a checker sheathed is associated with an old Cossack saying: “Don’t take out without need, don’t put in without glory” . The red color of the handle of the checker symbolizes the “ Kuban Cossack Army , which included the New Alexander Cossacks in the past,” and the azure color of the scabbard - “The Terek Cossack Army , which the New Alexander Cossacks belong to today . ” The silver color of the sheath holder corresponds to the color of the Cossack device [1] .
The tincture of the shield field and figures also reflect the substantial idea of the coat of arms of the Novoaleksandrovsky municipal district. Gold means enlightenment, masculinity, non-corruption, wisdom, perseverance, honor, wealth, light, illumination, harmony, truth. Silver is a symbol of chastity, purity, eloquence, virginity, the feminine, perfection, nobility, understanding. The scarlet symbolizes Faith, great martyrdom, zenith of colors, militancy, dignity, courage, strength, fearlessness, tenacity, generosity, celebration, courage. Azure represents in Orthodoxy the color of the Mother of God holidays , truth, intelligence, revelation, wisdom, loyalty, loyalty, constancy, integrity, pure impulses, an impeccable reputation, breadth of soul, prudence, piety, peace of contemplation [1] .
History
In accordance with Article 9 of the Federal Law of October 6, 2003 No. 131-ФЗ “On General Principles of Organization of Local Self-Government in the Russian Federation”, Article 7 of the Law of the Stavropol Territory of March 2, 2005 No. 12-KZ “On Local Self-Government in the Stavropol Territory” and heraldic rules, a municipality has the right to establish official symbols that reflect historical, cultural, national and other local traditions and features [4] [5] .
After receiving the status of a municipality, Novoaleksandrovsky district was one of the first in the Stavropol Territory to begin developing its own official symbols. On September 1, 2005, at the initiative of the head of the district administration, N. I. Gerasimov, a competition was announced among students of secondary schools for the best designs of the coat of arms and flag of the municipality. The competitive works were first shown at school project exhibitions, then the most interesting sketches were selected from among them and sent to the regional exhibition in the House of Culture of the city of Novoaleksandrovsk . Despite the fact that the initiative of the district administration did not ultimately bring the expected results, the competition contributed to the popularization of local symbolism among young people and demonstrated "not only the level of heraldic culture of teachers and schoolchildren, but also an understanding of the characteristics of their small homeland" [6] .

After that, the symbols adopted by the deputies of the district council were sent for examination to the Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation [7] .
On October 13, 2007, as part of the celebration of the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the Novoaleksandrovsky district, an official presentation of the coat of arms of the municipality and the flag created on its basis took place.
