It is located 1.5 km southeast of Cape Haysumukanniemi , and from the east it is limited by Cape Maynavolok [1] . The lip extends 1.5 km deep into the land, while its width is only 300 m, and in the central, widest part - 600 m. In addition to the southern and a small part of the western part of the coast, the lips are elevated, rapidly breaking off to the water, composed of granite and gneisses . In the south, at the confluence of the stream into the bay, there is a coastal lowland covered with shrubs . On a small stretch of the west coast there is a sandy beach, further west of which, a river flows from Lake Iso-Suolavuonenjärvi [1] . The river and lip form a kind of narrow isthmus , which further north extends and passes into a rocky elevated peninsula. To the south-east of the bay are adits built at the end of the 19th century for the extraction of polymetallic ores ( lead , silver , quartz , zinc ), the deposits of which have been known here since the beginning of the 18th century [2] . First, private entrepreneurs (1870) [3] and L. I. Podgaetsky (1890), who discovered 4 metal veins in the region of the bay, were engaged in their research [4] . Since the end of the XIX century, adits were actively developed; here at the beginning of the XX century there was even a colony in which 1 family lived since 1894 . As of 1897, the colony was inhabited by 4 people [5] .
