Tanhlyin [1] ( Siriam ) ( Burmese သန်လျင်မြို့ ) - a city in the central part of Myanmar , in the territory of the administrative district of Yangon .

Content
History
In the past, Tanhlyin was part of the monk state of Hantavadi . In a later period, the city was owned by the Portuguese , and then the French . In 1756, the city was captured and almost completely destroyed by the troops of the ruler of Burma Alaunpaya , after which it fell into almost complete decline. In the 20th century, oil was discovered in the vicinity of Tanhlin [2] .
Geographical position
The city is located in the southern part of the province, near the confluence of the Pegu rivers and Yangon , southeast of the city of Yangon , at a distance of 327 kilometers south of the country's capital Naypyidaw . The absolute height is 5 meters above sea level [3] .
Population
According to 2013 estimates, the population of the city was 240,380 people [4] .
Economics and Transport
The city port has an oil terminal [2] . Tanglin’s communication with other cities of Myanmar is through road and river transport. A bridge has been thrown across the Pegu River connecting the city with Yangon. The nearest airport is located also in the city of Yangon [3] .
