Halhgol ( Mong. Halhgol ) - somon aimak Dornod in the north-eastern part of Mongolia , whose area is 28,093 km² . The population according to 2009 was 3,203 people [1] .

The center of the somon is the Tamsag-bulag village , located 250 kilometers from the aimak administrative center - the city of Choibalsan and 900 kilometers from the country's capital - Ulan Bator [2] .

Geography
Somon is located in the north-eastern part of Mongolia . It borders with the People’s Republic of China from the north, east and south. On the territory of Halkhgol, the Bayan-Ulziy, Vangiyin Tsagaan, Havtsal, Lhamkhayrhan, Toson, Zuunmodon mountains are located.
Of the minerals in somone, coal, oil, lead, chemical and construction raw materials are found [2] .
Climate
The climate is sharply continental. The average January temperature is -18 degrees, July +20 degrees. The annual rainfall is 200-300 mm [2] .
Fauna
The animal world of Halchgol is represented by roe deer, foxes, wolves, corsacs, Pallas, hares, and tarbagans [2] .
