Initial biography

Pavel Ivanovich Bunyashin was born on January 23, 1902 in the village of Ryassa [1] .

Military Service

Pre-war time

In August 1921 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to study at the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee in Moscow , after which from October 1924 he served as commander of a rifle platoon and platoon of a regiment school in the 7th Rifle Regiment ( 3rd Rifle Regiment Division , Ukrainian Military District ) in Sevastopol . In 1927 he graduated from the F. Engels Leningrad Military-Political Courses. In March 1927, Bunyashin was transferred to Simferopol in the 9th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Infantry Division, where he served as political commander and company commander, chief of staff of the battalion, assistant chief of staff of the regiment.

In 1932 he graduated from intelligence courses for improving command personnel in Moscow.

In February 1933, he was appointed to the post of chief of the 2nd part of the headquarters of the 45th Infantry Division of the Ukrainian Military District, in March 1936 - to the post of commander of the 49th Separate Intelligence Battalion ( 46th Infantry Division , Kiev Military District ), and in March 1938 - to the post of chief of the operational department - assistant chief of staff of the 46th Infantry Division in the Kiev and then in the Trans-Baikal military districts .

In February 1939, Bunyashin was appointed to the post of chief of the operational department - assistant chief of staff of the 32nd Rifle Corps of the Trans-Baikal Military District, and in March 1940 - to the post of deputy chief of staff of this corps. For excellently organized service in the corps in February 1941, Pavel Ivanovich Bunyashin was awarded the Order of Honor .

Great Patriotic War

At the beginning of World War II, the 32nd Rifle Corps was withdrawn to the reserve of the Supreme High Command Headquarters , and then relocated to the Smolensk region, where it took part in the Battle of Smolensk .

In August 1941, Bunyashin was appointed to the post of senior assistant to the chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the 16th Army of the Western Front , which participated in the Vyazemsky defensive operation , as well as in defensive operations and in the counterattack near Moscow . Since January 1942, he was the chief of staff of the 18th Infantry Division , transformed in January 1942 into the 11th Guards .

In April 1942 he was appointed commander of the 221st Infantry Division . At the end of October 1942, the division was disbanded, and Pavel Ivanovich Bunyashin was sent to accelerated courses of the Higher Military Academy named after K. E. Voroshilov . Without completing the full course of training, Bunyashin was appointed February 28, 1943 to the post of commander of the 27th Rifle Corps , which was forming in the Moscow Military District .

On April 28, 1943, Bunyashin commanded the 84th Infantry Division , which took part in the Battle of Kursk , during which during the offensive the division went over 300 km and liberated more than 90 settlements, including Kharkov and Poltava , for which the divisions was awarded the honorary name "Kharkov", and was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner . For well-organized and successfully conducted offensive operations of the division and inflicting heavy losses in manpower and equipment to the enemy, for personal bravery and courage shown in battles, Major General Pavel Ivanovich Bunyashin was awarded the Order of Suvorov 2nd degree on August 27, 1943.

Soon, the 84th Infantry Division under the command of Bunyashin participated in the battle for the Dnieper and in the Kirovograd , Korsun-Shevchenkovskaya , Iasi-Kishinev , Budapest , Balaton and Vienna operations .

Post War Career

After the war, Major General Pavel Ivanovich Bunyashin continued to command the division as part of the Southern Group of Forces . In August 1945, he was appointed to the post of head of the advanced training courses for officers of the Southern Group of Forces, and in October to the post of military commander of Bucharest .

At the end of higher academic courses at the K.E. Voroshilov Higher Military Academy , in March 1949 he was appointed to the post of senior lecturer of this academy, and on October 20, 1954 - to the post of military attache in the Republic of Vietnam .

In October 1958, Major General Pavel Ivanovich Bunyashin resigned. He died on July 7, 1983 in Moscow .
