“The Long Way” is the first feature film of the Soviet director Leonid Gaidai (color). Filmed based on the Siberian stories of Vladimir Korolenko . Despite the fact that the plot of the film was not at all comedic, Mikhail Romm discerned the comedian’s talent as a young director and advised him to work in this direction.

Story
Station keeper Kruglikov was exiled to a remote Siberian village many years ago for shooting his boss, a general who demanded that he go with him as a matchmaker to Kruglikov’s girlfriend, Paradise. A political exile is brought to the station. It turns out to be Paradise. For several minutes, the former bride and groom were nearby, and then she was again taken along the stage.
