Quranic Story
The story of the sacrifice of the two sons of Adam is presented in the Quranic Sura al-Ma'id . The Qur'an tells the story that the sons of Adam made a sacrifice, and the sacrifice was accepted only from one brother. Kabil, whose offering was rejected, threatened his brother with the fact that he would kill him. Khabil replied that because of fear of Allah he himself would not raise his hand against his brother, and the killer would inevitably fall into the flames of hell . After the assassination, Allah sent a raven, who began to tear the earth, showing how to hide the corpse. However, the killer Kabil did not do this and repented. After this event, the sons of Israel were forbidden to kill.
Tradition
The plot of the story of the sons of Adam is supplemented by tradition, dating back mainly to Jewish legends ( Israelites ) [3] . According to Arab-Muslim tradition, each of the brothers had a twin sister and, on the orders of Adam, had to marry the sister of another brother. However, Kabil, instead of marrying the sister of Habil Labuda, wanted to marry his own sister Aklima, who was more beautiful than Labuda. The dispute between the two brothers was to be decided by lot in the form of a sacrifice. Kabil did not know what to do with the corpse, and for a year he carried it on his back in a bag. Only after he saw a raven tearing the earth did Kabil bury his brother. According to the folk legends of South Arabia, the grave of Kabil is in Aden [4] .
