Sasawatsu (lat.) Is an invalid genus of extinct marsupial mammals from the Palaeothentidae family of the coenolest order (Paucituberculata) that lived in South America [1] .
The generic name Sasawatsu was introduced in 2004 by Goin and Candela for the described species Sasawatsu mahaynaq , however, in 2010 it was established that it belongs to the genus Pilchenia and after a series of discussions [2] the question of the priority of the name was decided in favor of Pilchenia antiqua Goin et al. , 2010 [1] .
