Otar ( kaz. Otar - “the farthest pasture” [5] [6] ) is the railway station of the Almaty branch of the Kazakhstan railways . It is located on the Berlik I - Aktogay section, the transfer station of the Almaty branch (the next station, the Kulzhabasy railway station, already belongs to the Zhambyl branch).

The station is located in the village of Otar of the Kordai district of the Zhambyl region. Received the name from the aul.
Content
Operations in
The station carries out the following passenger and cargo operations:
- Sale of passenger tickets.
- Reception, baggage claim.
- Reception and delivery of small shipments requiring storage in covered warehouses of stations.
- Acceptance and issuance of wagon consignments permitted for storage on open areas of stations.
- Reception and delivery of goods by wagon and small shipments, loaded with whole wagons, only on access roads and public places.
- Receiving and issuing carload shipments requiring storage in covered warehouses of stations.
- Acceptance and delivery of goods in universal transport containers with a gross weight of 3 and 5 tons on access roads (with the execution of shipping documents in accordance with the rules of § 3).
- Acceptance and issuance of small shipments of goods allowed for storage on open areas of stations. [3]
History
Otar station was constructed during the construction of Turksib . Opened in 1931.
In 1997, electrification was carried out with alternating current voltage of 25 kV section Chu (station) - Otar. In 2001 ~ 25 kV, the Otar- Alma-Ata I section was electrified. [7]
In 2013, the station carried out intensive average repairs on 25, 26 tracks in the amount of more than 1 km, and carried out enhanced lifting repair of the track. [eight]
Events
In 1961, during a trip to the Kazakh SSR at the Otar station, a meeting was organized between N. S. Khrushchev and local residents. [9]
In 2009, during the military exercises of the KSOR CSTO Interaction-2009 in Kazakhstan, the station served unloading and loading of transport trains of the 31st Guards Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation and the 37th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan participating in these exercises. In 2010, during the joint military anti-terrorist exercise of the SCO Peace Mission 2010 in Kazakhstan, the Otar station (together with the Chilbastau station ) served unloading and loading of transport echelons of the units of the Russian Armed Forces participating in these exercises [12] [13] and Narodno’s contingent Liberation Army of China . Perspectives
A project is under development for the construction of an additional route from Otar to Alma-Ata. [15]
In order to prevent people from crossing the railway track in unidentified places and to prevent livestock from getting in the way, it is planned to fence the railway tracks of the station. [sixteen]
