Features
HD 41248 - a star of 8.82 visible magnitude; for the first time in astronomical literature is mentioned in the catalog of Henry Draper , published at the beginning of the XX century . It is a yellow dwarf with a mass and radius equal to 92% and 78% of the solar, respectively. [1] The luminosity of a star is 68% of the solar. The surface temperature of HD 41248 is approximately 5713 Kelvin . The age of the star is estimated at approximately 2 billion years.
Planet System
In 2013, a group of European astronomers announced the discovery [1] of two planets in the system. Both of them belong to the type of hot gas giants , which are close to the parent star. They are comparable in mass with Neptune : the planet HD 41248 b has a mass equal to 3% of the mass of Jupiter ; planet HD 41248 c has a mass equal to 2% of Jupiter. The discovery of both planets was accomplished by Doppler spectroscopy . The table below shows their detailed specifications.
After a series of new measurements in 2014, the planetary system was closed: the 18-day period of radial velocity fluctuations was not confirmed, and the 25-day period was explained by the activity of the star itself with differential rotation and a large number of spots [3] .
