The album received various ratings from critics. Allmusic call this album the best in the band’s work, and Pitchfork Media ridicule them for their “slowness and lack of ingenuity”. Shortly after publication, the group announced an indefinite vacation, so the participants pursued various musical interests.
Yanqui is a Spanish word translated as Yankees . The Yanqui booklet is also called the "multinational corporate oligarchy." “UXO” is the abbreviation for “unexploded ordnance ”. The disc has a line chart supposedly showing the relationship between the 4 largest recording studios ( AOL Time Warner , BMG , Sony , Vivendi Universal ) and various weapon manufacturers. The diagram is accompanied by a photograph of a falling bomb. Later, the group stated that some of their studies were inaccurate.
The album was released on CD and double vinyl , the latter having three notable differences. The first difference lies in the two composite track “09-15-00” (the booklet reports that the Second Intifada began on that day, although this is an incorrect date), this track was combined into one. The second difference is the addition of an unnamed track after a few minutes of silence (like the track "JLH Outro" on the CD release F♯A♯∞ ); the hidden track contains samples of unsuccessful samples of George W. Bush’s voice with added applause (this sample also appears on Aidan Girt in her 1-Speed Bike project in the debut album Droopy Butt Begone! (2000) in the track “The Day that Mauro Ran Over Elwy Yost” ) The third difference is in the second part of the track “Motherfucker = Redeemer”, the vinyl record is 5 minutes longer due to an additional ambient introduction.
The album was recorded in Electrical Audio by Steve Albini. The recording was edited by the band's musicians and Howard Bilerman (who also made an additional recording) at Hotel2Tango in Montreal , who also recorded the album at Abbey Road Studios in London, England.
