Pheidole infernalis (lat.) - a species of ants of the genus Pheidole from the subfamily Myrmicinae ( Formicidae ). Neotropics : Bolivia (Parque Nacional Noel Kempff Mercado, 14 ° 48'S 60 ° 23'W). Found in the litter layer of rainforest at an altitude of 700 m. Small ants (1-2 mm) are yellowish-brown in color with characteristic large-headed soldiers. There are spikes on the propodeum. The antennae of workers and females are 12-segmented (13 in males) with a 3-segmented mace. The width of the head of large workers (HW) is 0.72 mm (the length of the head is 0.74 mm). The width of the head of small workers is 0.48 mm (the length of the head is 0.52 mm). Pheidole infernalis belongs to the species group Pheidole flavens Group and is similar to the species Pheidole ademonia , Pheidole peltastes , Pheidole sospes and Pheidole termitobia [1] .
