Macdonald of Clanranald ( born Macdonald of Clanranald , or Raonuil [1] ) is a Scottish clan from the Hebrides .

History
Clanranld MacDonald is an offshoot of the MacDonald Clan, the largest Scottish clan descended from the ruler of the kingdom of the Donald Islands .
The founder of the Clanranald MacDonald clan was Ranald, the son of the first lord of the Isles John I Macdonald , the grandson of Angus Og , the fourth grandson of the founder of the Kingdom of the Somerled Islands . Also from Ranald comes another Scottish clan - the McDonnell clan from Glengarry .
