Biography
I.P. Sobolev was born in the village of Shapurov, Vitebsk district (now the Vitebsk region of the Vitebsk region ). He graduated from the seven-year plan in the Selyuts of the Vitebsk region [2] . He worked at a tool factory in Vitebsk. In the Red Army since 1927. In 1931 he graduated from the Leningrad Military Engineering School. During the Great Patriotic War at the front since 1941.
The commander of the 19th separate motorized pontoon-bridge battalion (7th Guards Army, Steppe Front), Lieutenant Colonel I.P. Sobolev distinguished himself in September 1943 when crossing the Dnieper in the section Saloshchina - Mishurin Rog eighty kilometers south of the city of Kremenchug ( Ukraine ) .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 26, 1943, Lieutenant Colonel I.P. Sobolev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
After the war, I.P. Sobolev continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1952 he graduated from the Higher Officer Engineering School. Since 1955, Colonel I.P. Sobolev retired. He lived and worked in Vitebsk.
