Halo of Blood is the eighth studio album of the Finnish melodic death metal band Children of Bodom , released June 7, 2013 in Europe, June 11 in North America via Nuclear Blast . In Japan, the album was released May 28 at Marquee Inc.

About the album
On March 19, 2013 the name and track list of the album became known, as well as a cover was presented, the author of which was Sami Saramyaki, previously responsible for the covers of the Follow the Reaper , Are You Dead Yet? and Hate Crew Deathroll [19] .
Bass guitarist Henkka Seppälä : “We wanted something winter for her. Winter is well suited to the atmosphere of music and studio sessions. Of course, it could be Lake Bodom, frozen, with people stuck under the ice. Very finnish. We are very pleased that Sami created such an integral image! [19] . "
Janne Wirman : "The reaper must always be present on our cover ... a certain plot has arisen: winter, a frozen lake, white color and so on and so forth."
The band recorded a new CD in Helsinki at Danger Johnny Studios. Recording engineer Mikko Karmila, previously collaborating with the band on Hatebreeder , Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Deathroll, and Peter Tagtgren , who directed the recording of keyboards and both vocals, worked on the recording. The mixing was conducted in Helsinki at Finnvox Studios [20] .
Alexi Laiho : “Musically, we tried to add something new to the sound of our songs, while at the same time preserving the elements inherent in COB. This album contains both the fastest and slowest songs that we have ever written; in terms of lyrics, it can be noted that before we did not touch on topics that are present in some new texts. So be prepared to meet ten tracks of pure Nordic metal [19] . "
On May 4, 2013, a video with the lyrics for the song “Transference” was published on the official YouTube channel Nuclear Blast. On May 13, the official video for the song "Transference" was presented.
