History
Scottish immigrant Jim Dunlop (1936-2019) in 1965 founded the Jim Dunlop Company, working at that time as a chemical engineer. His first work was Vibra- Tuner - a small device that was attached to the guitar by suckers and showed whether the guitar was tuned. While he was going from the store to the store, offering his invention, someone told him that musicians need good capos , and that if someone undertakes to make a capo, which will be well attached to a 12-string guitar, it will work well . Using his engineer education, Dunlop created a switching capo; He then began working with a local workshop to launch the first line of Capo, which was later named the 1100 serial.
March 19, 1972 Dunlop came to the shop of mediators and began to read all the editions of Guitar Player , noting for himself the comments of musicians regarding mediators. In the same year, he left Dymo Industries to devote himself entirely to his new company. After moving to his family in Benicia, Dunlop opened his first store, which, however, soon had to be changed, because the needs increased.
Jim Dunlop manufactures a wide range of products from capitals and neurotransmitters to slides, thresholds , belt fixers and a variety of effects , including the Crybaby wah-wah pedal , Univibe, Heil Talkbox and MXR , as well as the Way Huge pedal line of effects.
Way Huge Electronics and Tortex
Way Huge was founded by George Tripps in 1992. [1] At the end of 1999, Tripps left to work at Line 6 , and the company closed. In 2008, Tripps and Way Huge moved to Jim Dunlop, where the Way Huge line was resurrected, including Swollen Pickle ( fuzz ), Pork Loin ( overdrive ), Fat Sandwich ( distortion ), [1] and Green Rhino (overdrive), Havalina (fuzz) and reissue of the old Aqua Puss pedal, dubbed Aqua Puss mk.II. There were also new Way Huge pedals - Supa Puss, Echo Puss and others.
