Album Details
The album combined elements of pop, folk and classical music - a combination of the group begun at the previous work of the group , with a bias towards country. This musical concept was continued on the next disc of the group - Automatic for the People .
For the first single, the song “Losing My Religion” was chosen, which became the band’s biggest hit in the USA. Out of Time was the band’s first album to reach the top of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. However, despite such success, the musicians did not organize a concert tour.
Out of Time became the group's best-selling album in Germany, with more than 125.0000 copies sold.
Out of Time was the first REM album; it was released in a large edition on CDs (they also had a colorful booklet). In Spain, an art competition was held for drawing on the cover of the album, the winning work was an abstract oil painting.
