Biography
Sergey Kulikov was born on July 3, 1913 in St. Petersburg . He received an incomplete secondary education, graduated from a factory apprenticeship school , after which he worked as a mechanic at the factory "Red October". In 1932, Kulikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1933 he graduated from the Voroshilov Military School, and subsequently - the school of summer labs. He participated in battles on Lake Hassan and in the Soviet-Finnish War . Since August 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He fought as a navigator in the crew of Alexander Molodchy [1] .
By September 1942, Major Sergei Kulikov was the navigator of the 2nd Guards Air Regiment of the 3rd Air Division of the USSR Airborne ADD . By that time, he had made 146 sorties to bombard accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, his important objects, inflicting heavy losses [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 31, 1942, for the "exemplary performance of command missions on the front line against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Major Sergei Kulikov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under the number 766 [1] .
In 1943, Kulikov was recalled from the front and appointed senior navigator-inspector of the USSR ADD. In 1945, with the rank of guard, lieutenant colonel Kulikov was sacked. He lived and worked in Moscow . He died suddenly on March 26, 1953, was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was awarded two orders of Lenin, orders of the Red Banner , Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 degree, a number of medals [1] .
