Biography

Currently Гirts Jekabsons is a student living in the city of Jurmala . He trains with Evgeny and Galina Lutkov in Sweden (at the height of the season - 30 hours a week in Gothenburg , in the off-season time - 30 hours a week in the cities of Saffle and Katrinholm). Ирirts Jekabsons is fond of dancing, basketball and motorcycle riding [1] .

Career

In 1995, Yekabsons joined the Isdala FSC club [1] . For the first time at the national championship, he participated in the 2008/2009 season , at the level of “junior” [3] (he was automatically awarded the first place as the only declared participant [4] ). The following season, Yekabsons became the second in the adult national championship [5] and received the right to participate in European and world championships . At the European Championship in Tallinn in the short program, he started under the eighth number. Yekabsons fell on the first jump, unable to perform the planned cascade. Further, other errors were made, the score for the technique was only 15.32 points. The Latvian finished only on the 35th line with a total score of 32.67 points, not being selected in an arbitrary program [6] .

At the world championship in Turin, Yekabsons, also starting at number 8, made two drops in the short program. Points for the technique amounted to 16.74, and for the components - 17.05. The figure skater finished the competition on the last - 46th line, not being selected in an arbitrary program [7] .

In the season 2010/2011 The music for the short program of Yekabsons was the soundtrack to the film “ Schindler's List ”. In the free program, he skated under the “Little Tango” Niva Haramati and Peter Drango [1] .

The last major competition at the moment, in which Jekabsons took part, is the 2012 Nordic Championships where the Latvian finished 10th with a total of 94.88 [3] .
