Biography
Galimzan Kamaleev was born on July 15, 1919 in the village of Apakayevo (now Lenino-Kokushkino, Pestrechinsky district of Tatarstan ). After elementary school, he worked on a collective farm . In 1939, Kamaleev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since October 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. By September 1943, Sergeant Galimzan Kamaleyev commanded the calculation of the mortar company of the 248th Infantry Regiment of the 31st Infantry Division of the 46th Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On the night of September 26-27, 1943, Kamaleev was one of the first to cross the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Soshinovka in the Verkhnedneprovsky District of the Dnipropetrovsk Region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore. In those battles, he personally destroyed the German machine gun and a group of enemy infantry. Being in combat formation rifle units, Kamaleev took part in the assault on the dominant height and its retention [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 22, 1944, Sergeant Galimzan Kamaleev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In 1946, the rank of senior sergeant Kamaleev was demobilized. He returned to Lenin-Kokushkino, in 1971-1980 he worked as the director of a boarding house for the elderly and disabled. He was elected to the Supreme Council of the RSFSR. After retirement, he settled in Kazan [1] . He died on June 13, 1993, was buried in Lenino-Kokushkino.
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
