Gaskarov, Alexey Vladimirovich

Aleksei Vladimir Gaskarov (born June 18, 1985 ) is a Russian left-wing public figure, an activist of the anti-fascist movement, a member of the Opposition Coordination Council . He took an active part in the protection of the Khimki and Tsagovsky forests.

Biography

Alexey Vladimirovich Gaskarov was born in the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region. He graduated from school number 8 with a silver medal .

He worked at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the department studying social movements. There are a number of publications in various publications on topics of social and economic policy. He graduated from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation with a degree in Mathematical Methods in Economics . Works as a project manager for a consulting company Expert Systems LLC.

First arrest

On August 3, 2010, activists Alexei Gaskarov and Maxim Solopov were arrested as part of the Khimki case investigation. After their arrest in Russia and abroad, a campaign was held for the release of the Khimki hostages. In particular, during the International Day of Unified Actions in their support in September 2010, 30 actions were held in 27 cities in twelve countries of the world [1] .

On October 15, 2010, the Moscow Regional Court quashed the decision to arrest Alexei Gaskarov. On June 24, 2011, he was acquitted by the Khimki City Court. On September 29 of the same year, the Moscow Regional Court upheld the acquittal. On April 27, 2012, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow ordered the Ministry of Finance to pay Gaskarov 50 thousand rubles for illegal criminal prosecution, but this money never reached the addressee [2] .

Second Arrest

On April 28, 2013, Gaskarov was detained as a suspect in the Swamp Case . In SKR, he was identified by two classified witnesses - the driver of a special vehicle of “non-contact determination of an offense” and the inspector of the second special police regiment [2] . Gaskarova is charged with part 2 of article 212 (participation in riots ) and part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code (use of violence against a representative of authority). The investigation claims that Gaskarov on Bolotnaya Square “led a group of people who took an active part in the riots,” and also personally beat a policeman who detained the demonstrators.

After the second arrest of Gaskarov, actions were held in his support, including a bike ride in Moscow on May 11, 2013, where 9 people were detained [3] , and a road closure near the Investigative Committee on May 17 [4] . In St. Petersburg, a bike ride in support of Alexei Gaskarov and other “prisoners on May 6” took place on May 27 [5] .

In support of Gaskarov, a well-known American athlete, anarchist and anti-fascist Jeff Monson made [6] .

On June 17–23, 2013, the Days of Unified Actions in support of Alexei Gaskarov were held in many cities of Russia [7] .

On August 18, 2014, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Alexei Gaskarov to 3.5 years in a penal colony [8] . Together with Alexei, three more persons involved in the “swamp business” were convicted: Ilya Gushchin, Alexander Margolin and Elena Kokhtareva. He was serving his sentence in a colony in Novomoskovsk .

October 27, 2016 was released, having completely served his sentence.
