Reed, Kieran

Kieran James Read ( born October 26, 1985 ) is a New Zealand rugby player who plays for the Crusaders , the Canterbury team and the national team . Represents the β€œcrusaders” since 2007 and is currently the captain of the club. Plays on the positions of the flanker and the eighth (tightening), while possessing the skills of playing lock (castle).

Biography

Reed met rugby in the town of Drury, located on the territory controlled by the County of Manisau Rugby Union. He attended Opaheke Elementary School, then became a student at Rosehill College . He spent the year 2000 at Saint Kentigern College , but then returned to Rosehill. After returning, he began to demonstrate success in studies and sports, received the status of the best athlete. He excelled not only in rugby, but also in cricket , becoming a member of the New Zealand national team among athletes under 17 in 2002. Married to Bridget Fannell.

Career

Despite the prospect of a brilliant cricket career, Reid chose to go rugby. A year after leaving school, he was spotted by the breeders of the Canterbury Rugby Union. Once in the composition for developing players, he began to progress rapidly and in 2006 held the first match for the national team of the region.

Already in 2007, the player joined the Crusaders and began to compete in the strongest club competition in the Southern Hemisphere - Super 14 . A year later, Reed entrenched in the main team in the position of the blindside flanker. The rugby player acted incredibly effectively in conjunction with one of the best players in the world, Richie McCaw , demonstrating a large number of exemplary seizures throughout the match and high speed. At the end of 2008, the athlete joined the All Blacks , and the next season became the main player of the New Zealanders. His international debut took place on November 8, 2008 in a match with the Scots .

In 2010, Reed was recognized as the best rugby player of New Zealand [1] . Player of the Year according to the International Rugby Council in 2013 [2] .
