Military cemetery No. 118 - Staszkówka ( Polish Cmentarz wojenny nr 118 - Staszkówka ) is a military cemetery located in the village of Staszkówka , Gorlice County , Lesser Poland Voivodeship . The cemetery is part of the group of West Galician military graves from the First World War . At the cemetery, 780 military personnel of the Austrian, German and Russian army were buried, who died in May 2, 1915 during the First World War . Protected monument of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship .
History
The cemetery was founded by the Department of Military Graves of K. and K. of the military commandant’s office in Krakow in 1915. The authors of the cemetery were Austrian sergeant Anton Müller and Austrian architect Herman Kurt Goseus. The cemetery with an area of 118 square meters contains 48 common and 209 individual graves, in which 439 German, 281 Austrian and 43 Russian soldiers are buried.
On December 29, 1995, the necropolis was included in the register of cultural monuments of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
Description
The tombs of the necropolis are decorated with iron crosses, on which is fixed a plate on the nationality of the buried soldier. The central monument of the cemetery is a monument consisting of four pylons, two of which are crowned with stylized swords. Prior to this monument is the central alley of the necropolis.
