Biography

Born on February 28 ( March 13 ), 1903 in the village of Annovka (now the Alexandria district of the Kirovograd region of Ukraine ).

He graduated from elementary school. In 1925-1928 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. After demobilization, he lived and worked in Baku .

In 1941, Kalinichenko was re-drafted into the army. Since July 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the Bryansk and Central Fronts. He participated in the battle of Kursk and the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR . In 1943, Kalinichenko graduated from retraining courses for commanding officers. By August 1943, Lieutenant Grigory Kalinichenko commanded a company of the 4th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 6th Guards Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions and the battle of the Dnieper [1] .

On August 30, 1943, during the battle for the liberation of the village of Marchikhina Buda, Yampolsky District, Sumy Region, Kalinichenko was injured, but continued to fight. On September 14, his company successfully repelled German counterattacks and liberated the village of Yevlashovka (now Krasnoselskoye, Borznyansky district, Chernihiv region of Ukraine ). Rota Kalinichenko first went to the regiment to the Dnieper , and September 22 - to Pripyat . On September 25, 1943, she successfully liberated the Otashev village of the Chernobyl region of the Kiev region , destroying about 50 German soldiers and officers.

September 30, 1943 , during the battles for the expansion of the bridgehead in the Otashev area, Kalinichenko died. He was buried in the territory of the now defunct village of Otashev, Ivankovsky District, Kiev Region (grave in the territory of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone ) [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for “the courage, courage and heroism shown in the fight against the German invaders” of the guard, Lieutenant Grigory Kalinichenko was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
