Andrei Vyacheslavovich Kalyapin ( 1979 - 1999 ) - a private soldier of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation , a participant in the second Chechen war , Hero of the Russian Federation (1999).

Biography
Andrey Kalyapin was born on September 5, 1979 in the village of Prigorodnoye, Serdobsky District, Penza Region . After graduating from high school and vocational school as a welder. In December 1997, Kalyapin was called up for military service. After graduating from the training unit, after which he began to serve as a gunner-driver of an armored personnel carrier in Kalach-on-Don . During the second Chechen war, he was sent to Dagestan as part of a brigade, where he participated in battles with separatist gangs [1] .
On August 28-30, 1999, Kalyapin took part in the assault on Mount Chaban near the village of Chabanmakhi , Buinaksk District , and the Republic of Dagestan. Having seized positions on the mountain, he participated in holding this height. On August 30, when an enemy grenade fell near his comrades, Kalyapin covered them with his own, receiving mortal wounds, from which he died the next day, in a hospital in Makhachkala . He was buried in his native village [1] .
By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of October 14, 1999, Private Andrey Kalyapin was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Russian Federation . And he was forever enlisted in the lists of personnel of the military unit [1] .
In honor of Kalyapin, the school he graduated from was named, and a bust was installed in Serdobsk [1] .
