Geography
The city is located in the west of Bihar, on the left bank of the Ganges River , near the confluence of the Ghaghra River , near the administrative border with the state of Uttar Pradesh . The absolute height is 47 meters above sea level [1] . Chhapra is located approximately 32 kilometers west-north-west (WNW) from Patna , the state's administrative center and 795 kilometers east-southeast (ESE) from New Delhi , the country's capital.
Demographics
According to the official census of 2011, the population of the city was 201 597 people, of which men accounted for 52.7%, women - 47.3%, respectively. Adult literacy rate was 70.1%. The literacy rate among men was 74.3%, among women - 65.5%. 13.7% of the population were children under 6 years old [2] . The dynamics of the population of the city by years:

Economics and Transport
The city is a center for agricultural trade. In addition, on its territory there are enterprises for the processing of saltpeter and for the production of linseed oil [5] .
Chhapra connects with other cities in India by rail and road. The nearest airport is located in Patna [1] .
