Root plastic is a direction, a type of decorative and applied art , associated with the manufacture of sculptures from interwoven roots , twigs, branches, in various growths ( burls ). Root-cutting preparations can be found in a dried-up tree or shrub, in cleaned or washed roots. For work, mainly hardwood is used, which grows in Central Russia .

One of the representatives of this direction is Vladimir Stepanovich Parfyonov - a resident of the village of Peski , creator and collector of a collection of more than 150 unique works, winner of the VDNH Gold Medal and certificate with honors I degree (1967).
