Geography
The city is located in the west of Bihar, west of the Son River, at an altitude of 50 meters above sea level [1] . Arrach is located approximately 35 kilometers west of Patna , the state’s administrative center and 800 kilometers east-southeast (ESE) from New Delhi , the country's capital.

According to the 2011 official census , the population of the city was 261,099, of which 53.4% were men, 46.6% were women. Adult literacy rate was 72.4%.
