Udmurt State Philharmonic

The Udmurt Philharmonic was established on August 21, 1938 in accordance with the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . Its foundation was the Philharmonic Society. The first concert of nonresident musicians in the Philharmonic was the performance of the Moscow string quartet named after Glazunov. In the prewar years, the soloists, instrumental musicians worked in the Philharmonic collective, a symphony orchestra, the Udmurt state choir and a pop group acted. An ensemble was also created, playing on the Udmurt folk instrument krez . Pyatnitsky Choir , Leonid Utyosov Jazz Orchestra, Sverdlovsk Symphony Orchestra came to Izhevsk on tour. During the Great Patriotic War, artists of the Philharmonic created concert bands that spoke to the soldiers on the fronts. In 1942, an opera ensemble was created at the Philharmonic, and a musical lecture hall began to operate in 1943.

The Philharmonic Society includes:

• Academic Choir Chapel "Avis cantu"
• Orchestra of folk instruments “Zarni Krez”
• Variety ensemble "Shuldyr Kyt" ("Merry evening")
• Department of educational and educational programs

Since 1958, the Philharmonic has held the traditional annual Music Festival, which is dedicated to P.I. Tchaikovsky . Many world famous performers take part in it.

In the opened 75th musical season there are 12 subscriptions, among which there are both adult subscriptions “Jazz”, “Vocal”, “Chamber evenings”, and children's “Musicians”, “Golden Melody”, “Choral Universe”.

In one season, the Philharmonic holds up to a thousand concerts, which are attended by 150 thousand spectators ^[1] .
