The Military Historical Museum of the Eastern (Far Eastern) Military District - the Museum of the Eastern Military District in Khabarovsk , formerly called the Museum of the History of the VDVO .

Building on the street. Shevchenko, 20 was built in 1904-1907, until 1930 it housed the State Bank.
From 1930 to 1983, military institutions were located in the building, in 1945, during the Soviet-Japanese war , the building housed the headquarters of the 2nd Far Eastern Front , and a memorial plaque dedicated to Marshal of the Soviet Union Vasilevsky was fortified.
The museum was opened on May 31, 1983 on the day of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the city. Part of the exhibits moved from the Khabarovsk Museum of Local Lore .
The museum presents documents, photographs, banners, exhibits about all periods of the history of the Far Eastern Military District , starting with the Civil War in the Far East and to our time.
In 2012, the Military History Museum of the Eastern (Far Eastern) Military District on the orders of the former Minister of Defense Serdyukov was closed. Access of visitors to the halls was terminated, part of the staff was dismissed. At the end of 2013, the museum resumed its work, but it worked because of a shortage of staff only upon request. To service the 12 halls of the museum, about 30 people are needed, but the staff consisted of only 5 employees.
For 2016, the Military Historical Museum works without filing a preliminary application, but only on weekends [ significance of fact? ] . Ticket price for an adult - 100 rubles, children - for free [ significance of fact? ] .
