Geography
The city is located in the northeastern part of Uttar Pradesh, west of the Gandak River , near the administrative border with the state of Bihar . The absolute height is 78 meters above sea level [1] . Padarauna is located approximately 290 kilometers east of Lucknow , the state administrative center, and 680 kilometers east-southeast (ESE) from New Delhi , the capital of the country.
Demographics
According to the official 2001 census, the population of the city was 44,357 people, of which men made up 52.5%, women - respectively 47.5%. The adult literacy rate was 62%. The literacy rate among men was 69.4%, among women - 53.9%. 15.9% of the population were children under 6 years of age [2] .
