Khalilabad ( English Khalilabad , Hindi खलीलाबाद ) is a city in northern India , in the state of Uttar Pradesh , the administrative center of Santkabirnagar County.

Geography
The city is located in the north-east of the central part of Uttar Pradesh, west of the Ami Nadi River (a tributary of the Rapti River), at an altitude of 68 meters above sea level [1] . Khalilabad is located approximately 200 kilometers east of Lucknow , the state’s administrative center and 600 kilometers east-southeast (ESE) from New Delhi , the country's capital.
Demographics
According to the 2001 official census , the population of the city was 39,814 people, of which 52.9% were men, 47.1% were women. Adult literacy rate was 65.3%. The literacy rate among men was 72.7%, among women - 57.1%. 15.9% of the population were children under 6 years of age [2] .

Khalilabad connects with other cities in India through rail ( Gorakhdham Express ) and road transport. The nearest airport is located in Gorakhpur [1] .
