Siege of the barracks in Bielovar
In July 1991, Major Tepich, together with a group of soldiers, was stationed at the central ammunition depot in the village of Bedenik near Bjelovar . Croatian National Guard forces in the neighboring town captured the Bojidar Adzha barracks, capturing about two hundred Yugoslav people's army soldiers from the 265th motorized brigade, including a large number of recruits, and then surrounded the village of Bedenik and began its siege [2] . The team of the 5th military district of the JNA in Zagreb sent there the humanitarian mission of the “European Union”, but they were not allowed into the barracks by soldiers of the National Guard [2]
The shooting of soldiers and their loved ones
Escaped from the Yugoslav People’s Army, Lieutenant Colonel Josip Tomšić , who was the commander of the defense of Bjelovar, launched an attack on the barracks, in which soldiers, officers and their families remained loyal to the federal forces. About 2 thousand Croatian soldiers began to storm the barracks: the besieged had no food or water. Since the command of the JNA did not send reinforcements, the brigade commander, Colonel Rajko Kovacevich made the decision to surrender [2] . Total 60 officers and 150 soldiers were captured. The chairman of the urgently convened headquarters, Jure Simic, ordered the soldiers to line up on the parade ground and strip to the waist. The commander Rajko Kovacevic and his assistants were put out of action: Lieutenant Colonel Milko Vasić and Captain Dragisha Jovanovic. Simic took three of them to 50 meters, after which he shot them with a pistol [3] [2] .
Feat Tepich
Tepich together with his troops organized the defense of the warehouse against the Croatian soldiers and militants who surrounded the village [1] . However, the forces of the defenders dried up: soon it was no longer possible to hold the warehouse. September 29, 1991 , not wanting to surrender and hand over military supplies to the Croats, Milan Tepich laid the explosives in a warehouse and blew it up. As a result of a powerful explosion, not only Tepich was killed, but all of his subordinates (including seven officers). The exact number of casualties has not been established, but at least 11 Croatian and 20 Serbian JNA soldiers were killed in the explosion [4] . Together with Tepich, the draftee Stojadin Mirkovich , who with BTR armored the Croats and was killed by an explosion from an anti-tank missile, also died [5] . The wooden fragments scattered over a radius of 200 meters: the explosion turned out to be such a powerful force that in Bielovhar the glass in several houses was knocked out by a shock wave.
Many have compared this act with an action almost two centuries ago at the height of the First Serbian Uprising : Serbian voivode Stefan Singelić died in a similar situation in 1809 after shooting a gunpowder, but thereby undermined the bridge, destroying a huge number of Turkish soldiers [6] . In the course of Tepich's actions, 11 people were directly killed, about 200 more were later found dead or missing. As a sign of revenge, the Croats shot the captured ranko Stefanovich.
Memory
When people give a word, it is either held back or ignored. I gave my word that I will defend this land if it is in danger.

Branko Kostic , acting chairman of the SFRY, on November 19, 1991, issued, as it turned out, the last decree awarding the Order and title of the People’s Hero of Yugoslavia. To Major Milan Tepich, it was awarded "for an outstanding feat in the fight against the enemy during the attack on the JNA barracks in Bjelovar" [7] . Tepich was also awarded the Yugoslav Order of Military Merit with silver swords. In his honor, the Order of the Republic of Serbian “For Special Military Merit” was established [1] .
